EXPANSION JOINTS

Replacement Expansion Joints

What is an Expansion Joint?

An expansion joint is where you have lines on your sidewalks and driveways. It is called an expansion joint because of how the concrete contracts and expands with the Texas heat. When it does expand, it needs a buffer to prevent cracking. Before the concrete is poured, space is divided up into square or rectangular spaces. Wood is almost always used. This wood will weaken with the rain and moisture buildup. It will draw in moisture, causing wood rot to attract water retention, insects and bugs. EZ Clean & Paint uses plastic or silicone materials to fill your expansion joints will. Call us today to learn more about expansion joints.

Replacing Expansion Joints and Why?

Did you know that you should replace the expansion joints in your sidewalks, driveways, and walkways sooner rather than later? When these are built, the expansion joints are made from wood. Empty expansion joints or joints with weakened, splintering wood are hazardous. Over time, this erosion weakens the concrete's structural integrity and leads to cracking, shifting, caving, and the ultimate expense of having to pour new concrete.
